Kombucha Acid Profile

Gaia's Organic Kombucha’s wealth of organic acids and enzymes include:

Acetic acid
A natural product of metabolisation, an antiseptic and a suppressor of harmful bacteria.

Amino acids
The building blocks of proteins, these produce enzymes such as glutathione; a powerful antioxidant which provides protection from both alcohol and pollution. Most medical drugs deplete it.

Butyric acid
Protects cell membranes and, in conjunction with Gluconic acid, strengthens the gut walls against yeast infections such as candida.

Citric acid
An antiascorbic.

Gluconic acid
A product of the breakdown of glucose, which further breaks down to Caprylic acid to work symbiotically with Butyric acid and Nucleic acid.

Glucuronic acid
A powerful detoxifier, normally produced in the healthy human liver. It has the ability to bind to and excrete both metabolic and environmental toxins, including heavy metals.

Lactic acid
Assists with normal digestive processes. Lactic acid is often found to be lacking in the tissues of most cancer suffers.

Malic acid
Assists the liver to detoxify.

Nucleic acids
These transmit information to the cells on how to regenerate correctly.

Oxalic acid
A preservative, also encourages intercellular energy production.

Usnic acid
Found to act as a virus deactivator in addition to being a strong anti-bacterial agent.
